Early in the strip, Garfield would spend time on the window ledge and sometimes get trapped in the roll-up blinds. One of these events culminated in a two-week storyline in which Garfield, Odie, and Jon all got trapped in the blinds.
The blinds give way eventually, and Jon ends up wandering around the city, still trapped in the blinds with his pets and getting two complete strangers and even a street lamp caught with them until a fireman frees them with a pair of scissors [3]. This was one of the few storylines in which a Sunday strip was part of the regular story arc. After this, Jon bought Venetian blinds (which Garfield, somehow, still manages to get stuck in.
